Melbourne Irish Language Summer School, January 2018

Melbourne TramTramanna, Teanga agus Tú Féin.

Trams, Language, and Yourself!

Tá áthas orainn Daonscoil 2018 a fhógairt, i Melbourne arís agus in ionad nua : International House, ag Ollscoil Melbourne !

Daonscoil is back in Melbourne

After many years in a Victorian rural setting followed by a short hiatus, the annual Irish language summer returns in 2018 to a new city venue:  International House in the University of Melbourne

Over the Australia Day weekend in 2018, Thursday January 25 to Sunday January 28, Melbourne will host the essential event for lovers of the Irish language. Whether you are a native-speaker, an aspiring beginner, or have already set out on the fascinating journey, you will need to be in Melbourne’s fair city then. Here Cumann na Gaeilge na hAstráile, the Irish Language Association of Australia, is offering you the opportunity to learn, to improve and to speak the Irish language in the most congenial of surroundings, with the most dedicated of teachers.

International House Parkville

New dates and new venue

The course will start at lunchtime on Thursday, January 25, and conclude before lunch on Sunday, January 28. Our venue is the prestigious student residential establishment of International House in Parkville, which is associated with the University of Melbourne just down the road.

Accommodation is in a central building, providing freshly-renovated single rooms, and some double bedrooms. All bed linen and towels are provided, along with modern bathroom facilities just outside your door. It is also possible to secure a one or two bedroom apartment in a separate building close by. You could bring your family along.

Líofa nó ag foghlaim fós ? Fluent or learning?

Beidh rang ann atá oiriúnach duit. Chomh maith, beidh seans agat bualadh le foghlaimeoirí as áiteanna eile san Astráil. All levels are catered for from absolute beginners upwards. You will meet with learners from across the country.

Other local facilities

All accommodation and facilities are in close proximity to each other on the one site, which is characterized by its beautiful gardens and peaceful courtyards, shaded by leafy trees. If you wish to explore the wider world of Melbourne, you are already close to much the city has to offer. Step outside into Royal Parade, and the No. 19 tram will take you into the city’s heart and back, and further afield. There are extensive parklands on both sides of International House: Princes Park next to the historic Melbourne General Cemetery, and the vast Royal Park, where you can visit the fascinating creatures and lush gardens of Melbourne Zoo.

Cost: The all inclusive price will be $470 but there will also be a cheaper (non-residential) option for those not staying at International House. To register your interest just send us your contact details by end of August using the PDF form. Daonscoil 2018
