Irish Violinist Fionnuala Sherry Brings Secret Garden Back to Australia After 22 Years

As Australia and Ireland celebrate the 80th anniversary of modern diplomatic relations in 2026, one of Ireland’s most beloved musical ambassadors is returning to Australia.
After more than 22 years, the internationally acclaimed Grammy-winning Norwegian-Irish duo Secret Garden will present a five-city Australian tour this November.
At the heart of Secret Garden is celebrated Irish violinist Fionnuala Sherry, whose expressive performances have touched audiences around the world for nearly three decades.
Together with Norwegian composer Rolf Løvland, Secret Garden created timeless works including You Raise Me Up, Song From A Secret Garden, The Promise, Sometimes When It Rains, and Nocturne, the winning song of the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest.
The lyrics of You Raise Me Up were written by renowned Irish songwriter and novelist Brendan Graham, making the song one of Ireland’s greatest cultural gifts to the world.
Over the past twenty years, You Raise Me Up has become a global anthem of hope, gratitude and resilience, performed by hundreds of artists and embraced by millions of people across generations.
To celebrate this special Australian tour, organisers are launching a national gratitude initiative:
Who Raised You Up?
The initiative invites Australians to reflect on one simple question:
Who is the person who helped shape your life?
Perhaps it was a parent.
A grandparent.
A teacher.
A mentor.
A neighbour.
Or a friend who believed in you when you needed it most.
At every concert, audiences will also be invited to participate in the Secret Garden Gratitude Forest, a collaborative artwork created together with a First Nations artist. Guests will write the name of someone they wish to thank on a gratitude leaf, creating a living forest celebrating gratitude, community and hope.
In partnership with Greening Australia, AUD $1 from every ticket sold will also support the Secret Garden Inspiration Forest, helping restore native Australian landscapes and leaving a lasting environmental legacy.
To celebrate the tour and thank the Irish-Australian community for its ongoing support of Irish culture, an exclusive 40% Community Benefit is now available.

Running every year from 2 – 7 January in Koroit, this family-oriented festival is modelled on the Willie Clancy Festival in Co. Clare and offers lessons for all levels on a range of musical instruments, singing, songwriting, literature, dance, Irish language, yoga and much, much more. There’s a special kids’ program, too. Each fortnight, a committed and enthusiastic group convene at Woolloongabba, Brisbane, to connect with the Irish language and culture. The group consists of many levels of fluency and all who are interested in the language and wish to speak are very welcome. It is an informal, friendly, social group with an emphasis on connection and on using the language.
Furthermore, a Pop-Up Gaeltacht convene on the last Sunday of the month at Gilhooley’s Bar, Brisbane for the same purpose. Come and join and put your Irish language to work!
