The Guardian

NT Live: The Playboy of the Western World is in cinemas from June 25.
J M Synge’s classic play was first performed at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin on 26 January 1907, written in Hiberno-English dialect. It influenced numerous writers of the Irish Literary Revival, but was met with riots and protests when it first premiered.
We have a small number of double passes available to a word-of-mouth preview screening of the film at Cinema Nova Carlton on Saturday 20 June at 2:45pm.
