News from the Irish Club of Queensland
Following its report in May 2018, Tintean again celebrates a phoenix rising in Queensland
The resurgent Queensland Irish Association will hold its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 21st November 2018 at 6:30pm at West Bulldogs Rugby Club in Toowong.
Its busy social program this year has spanned the St Brigid’s Dinner, St Patrick’s Eve Dinner, Young Professionals Drinks, Tara Hall Dining Club, and the Tigh Gaelach Ladies’ Dining Club which has been operating since 1987. Its Bloomsday readings in the Brisbane Mall attracted an appreciative crowd and will be expanded in 2019. The Association’s Pipe Band continues to be a highlight of QIA functions.
Rodney and Robin Sullivan, Queensland Irish Association Honorary Historians, have been asked by the Board to write a History of the Queensland Irish Association, to be published in time for the 125th Anniversary, on 28th March 2023, of the founding of the QIA. They would be delighted if anyone with memory, memorabilia or photographs linked to the Association could contact them at rodsull@bigpond.net.au or 07 33951819.
