Booklaunch for centenary of Newman College

Nature of Event: Michael Francis’s new book, Contesting Catholic Identity: The Foundation of Newman College, Melbourne, 1914-18, will be launched by Dr. Val Noone. The book reveals that, by the time it opened its doors, Newman College had come to represent much more than just a residence for a relatively small number of university students; it was a litmus test for the very nature of Catholic identity in the state of Victoria. The launch will take place 100 years to the day the College opened its doors. Amelia le Plaistrier will perform on the harp.

Date: 5 pm, 24 March 2018

Venue: The Oratory, Newman College, 887 Swanston St., Melbourne.
