Ireland Out of Eurovision 2017 Final

A Newsflash from our Special Eurovision Reporter, Genevieve Rogers

Brendan Murray, RTE site

Brendan Murray brought his ‘A’ game to the second Semi Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 – but it was not enough for Ireland to qualify for the Grand Final of this year’s competition in Kyiv.

For the fourth year in a row, Ireland has missed the cut, despite good performances by both Brendan and his backing singers and an eye-catching staging. The song itself, ‘Dying to Try’, was the weak link in this entry. Eurovision is, after all, a SONG contest – a point not lost on the heavy-hitters in this increasingly competitive environment.

Nevertheless, Brendan and his team brought charm and professionalism to the performances, press conferences, interviews and receptions that make up the wider world of the Contest in the host city. As ambassadors for Ireland, they are winners!
