Further information: Melbourne UNESCO City of Literature in partnership with Galway UNESCO City of Film would like invite you to a special film and social event.

This riveting documentary explores the life, work and sensual poetic imagination of Máire Mhac an tSaoi, one of Ireland’s greatest living poets. She helped revolutionise Irish poetry by drawing on a native tradition to express a passionate sensibility and taboo emotions, at a time when women’s voices were on the margins of Irish literature and society.

Filmmaker Paula Kehoe and Declan Gibbons, Director, Galway UNESCO City of Film will be in attendance. (Paula is a native of Ivanhoe, Victoria and has done interesting interviews and a lot of research on Máire Mhac an tSaoi, interesting archival footage, and all interpreted with contemporary dance. Louis de Paor is also featured.)

Drinks in the bar before and after. Snacks provided.

Galway City of Film would like to acknowledge the continued support of the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
