Irish country music star Derek Ryan will be in Australia from 12th to 21st September to entertain country music fans and Irish expats as he brings his distinctive brand of Irish Country to Australian shores.
It is a dream come true to perform my music to an Australian audience. It is one place I have never visited before and I am extremely excited to take my music to a new audience at the other side of the world. Australia, like Ireland, has a great love for Country Music and I hope my music will be well received.
Derek came to fame as a member of The Ryan Brothers, a band he formed with his brother Adrian and then moved into a successful pop music career as a member of D-Side. Unable to shake off the sounds that resonated from his Mother’s kitchen radio, Derek got hooked on Nashville greats like Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash and George Strait and started to write his songs, including ‘A Song for Carlow’ which won him first award for song writing. He also collaborated with writers in Britain and in the home of country music, Nashville, Tennessee.
Derek Ryan released his fourth album, ‘Country Soul’ in late 2013 and reached #2 on the Irish country music charts. It went on to win Album of the Year at the Irish Country Music Awards. ‘Country Soul’ features the hit single ‘100 numbers’. His current single ‘Hold On To Your Hat’, a duet with Sharon Shannon, is his first track from his next album which is released this autumn and like his previous albums will feature some old country favourites, current chart covers and some of Derek’s own original songs.
