Event: The Central Victorian Irish Association (CVIA) program of events to commemorate the 1916 Rising.

The Central Victorian Irish Association (CVIA) is running a program of events this year to commemorate the 1916 Rising.
So far these have included:

a flag raising ceremony outside Bendigo Library on Sunday 24th April.

an Irish Exhibition in Bendigo Library, which ran from 23rd June to 31st July.

a series of lectures on the Rising. The first lecture took place on 23rd June at the Library, presented by John Clancy. The second one took place on 19th July at the ABM of the CVIA. Two other lectures are planned for August, and another two in September.

The commemorations will conclude with a special semi-production about the 1916 Rising which will take place in Bendigo on Saturday 15th October 2016 and Sunday 16th October 2016. This production will relate the story of the Rising through the media of narration, poetry, drama, visual images, music and song.
