The Tinteán Editorial Team were very saddened to hear of the death of Hugh Kiernan, son of Peter and Joan Kiernan, on the 25th February 2016 at the age of 60 years. Hugh’s father, Peter, is a founder-member of both Táin, the magazine of The Australian Irish Network, (published by Val and Mary Noone for almost a decade in the early 2000’s) and of both the print and on-line versions of Tinteán and is still actively involved in Tinteán.
We offer our condolences to Peter and Joan and their extended family and assure them of our love and prayers at this sad time.
Hugh was a wonderful man,
a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. His large, extended and loving family and his wide circle of friends will miss his warm nature, kind spirit and sense of humour. His courage, calm and repose were profound and will always be remembered. May the happy times shared with Hugh bring all who knew him, a sense of joy and peace and a deep sense of gratitude for his many fine qualities. (from the Mass of Thanksgiving)
Hugh was the author of the well-received memoir Love Letters from Transylvania, published by Booktopia in 2015
