Women and The Rising presented by Maeve O’Leary.

Brigidfest 2016 will focus on remembering the women of the 1916 Dublin rising. We are fortunate to have Maeve O’Leary as our guest speaker. Maeve’s grandparents (Tom Byrne and Lucy Smyth) were in the Dublin GPO during the Rising and she will be speaking to us about her grandmother Lucy Agnes Smyth who in the GPO and a member of Cumann na mBan.
We are presenting this event with the support of the Irish Embassy in Australia through the Ireland 2016 Global and Diaspora Programme of events.
The Brigidfest committee: Frances Devlin-Glass, Dianne Hall, Catherine Herrick, Julia Kuhns, Catherine Noone and Gillian Russell.
Proceeds will go to the Brigidines and others involved in ACRATH, – Australian Catholic Religious against the Trafficking of Humans.
