To all our loyal readers, the Tinteán editors wish you a happy Christmas and New Year and much family joy throughout the holiday season.

It is easy to forget that the world’s Covid-19 problems have been in place for two years, so our additional wish for a happy New Year is more than formula. The two years have not been easy in Australia; comment on our successes or otherwise would too easily be interpreted as political, so we obviously desist. We have noted that Ireland was ahead of us at the beginning, but appear to be having larger numbers just now.

At Tinteán, we are particularly pleased to note that there were new names among our writers this year. We thank all these contributors and urge all our readers or their contacts to consider sending us material of relevance to the long connections between Ireland and Australia.

Frances Devlin-Glass (Melbourne), Dymphna Lonergan (Adelaide), Trevor McClaughlin (Sydney), Frank O’Shea (Melbourne), Shauna Stanley (Melbourne)
