Readers of Tinteán may be interested to watch, on SBS OnDemand as part of the Who Do You Think You Are? series on genealogy, the story of Ray Martin’s ancestors, who stem from Whiteboys in Tipperary, and one of whom was present, on the other side and after the event, at Eureka. It’s an episode full of incident, and the best bit, which I shan’t spoil concerns a liaison between his Irish convict ancestor and an Aboriginal woman on the Liverpool Plains.
