20th Bloomsday in Melbourne (2013)

Bloomsday-72dpi-2The 2013 Bloomsday Festival notches up 20 memorable years.

The centrepiece play, The Seven Ages of Joyce, directed by Wayne Pearn, is original, telling the story of Joyce’s exuberant and tumultuous life, in part through the fiction (from go to whoa). It’s full of comedy, music and even some dance, and is wickedly funny. There are five performances –

  • Preview on Thursday 13th June at 7.30pm
  • Opening night on Friday 14th June at 7.30pm, with bubbles after
  • Saturday 15th June at 6.00pm,
  • Sunday – Bloomsday – 16th June at 1.00pm and 6.00pm (the 1.00pm show is filling fast!).

The seminar, The Obstetrician and the Psychiatrist Examine Joyce, at 3.30pm on Sunday 16th June, is also proving popular. Come along to hear some unique perspectives on Joyce from Dr James King and Dr Jo Beatson.

There will also be a separate performance at the dinner on Saturday night at 8.OO pm , at P J O’Brien’s at Southbank. More outrageous Joyce on death and birth. Bookings essential for dinner, and must be completed by Friday 14 June for catering reasons.
