Cumann Gaeilge na hAstráile (the Irish Language Association of Australia) will be celebrating its 20th anniversary at the Celtic Club on May 10. Founded by Maurice “Mossie” Scanlon, Éamonn Naughton and David Lucey, it has gone from strength to strength. Classes take place in the basement of the Celtic Club each Tuesday at 7 pm during the school term, catering for all levels.
This celebration is open to all… so get a taste and be inspired! Irish is not what you thought it was at school! The Irish language is experiencing a revival in Ireland and throughout the world. It is an Australian language too, having been spoken since the very first Irish settlers arrived here in 1788.
There will be fun activities, raffles and spot prizes on the night. The original founders, existing members and Comhaltas will be performing and demonstrating their love of our native language and culture.
